AviSense Joins XR-SENSE Horizon Europe Project as Partner
AviSense is proud to announce its participation as a partner in XR-SENSE, a new Horizon Europe project focused on next-generation visuo-haptic media representation, coding and interactive rendering for immersive and inclusive Extended Reality. The project has officially started with its kick-off meeting, bringing together European partners to shape the future of multimodal XR experiences.
The project officially started with its kick-off meeting, where consortium partners came together to align on the project vision, technical objectives, work plan and collaboration framework for the coming years.
XR-SENSE aims to advance the next generation of Extended Reality technologies by going beyond today’s primarily visual and audio-based immersive systems. The project focuses on the integration of visual and haptic information, enabling more realistic, interactive and inclusive XR experiences where users can not only see and hear virtual environments, but also perceive meaningful tactile and physical feedback.
The project will explore new methods for representing, coding, processing and interactively rendering visuo-haptic XR content in real time. This includes technologies for immersive media, human-centred interaction, multimodal sensing, haptic feedback, user-state modelling and adaptive XR experiences.
For AviSense, participation in XR-SENSE is strongly aligned with the company’s mission to develop AI-driven and XR-enabled technologies that improve situational awareness, safety and decision-making in complex environments.
Within the project, AviSense will contribute its expertise in Artificial Intelligence, Extended Reality, geospatial intelligence, cooperative perception and human-centred visualisation. The company’s role will focus on how advanced XR interfaces and AI-enabled perception can support intuitive, explainable and context-aware interaction in mobility and safety-critical environments.
AviSense brings experience from smart mobility, connected and autonomous systems, driver assistance, urban safety and real-time situational awareness. This expertise will support the project’s ambition to validate XR-SENSE technologies in application domains where immersive, responsive and trustworthy interaction can create real value.

The kick-off meeting marked an important first step in establishing the technical and collaborative foundations of the project. Partners discussed the overall architecture, user requirements, research challenges, expected outcomes and validation scenarios, setting the basis for a coordinated European effort in next-generation XR.
A key ambition of XR-SENSE is to contribute to more immersive, inclusive and human-centred virtual environments. By combining visual, haptic and contextual information, the project aims to make XR experiences more realistic, more accessible and better adapted to user needs.
We would like to thank the XR-SENSE coordinator and all consortium partners for the productive kick-off meeting and for the opportunity to contribute to this ambitious European project.
AviSense looks forward to working with the consortium to develop technologies that make XR more immersive, intelligent, inclusive and useful for real-world applications.
