Gerasimos Arvanitis
Gerasimos Arvanitis is a technology leader, entrepreneur, and researcher specializing in 3D geometry processing, computer vision, and immersive technologies for smart mobility.
Since 2023, he has served as CEO of AviSense.
Gerasimos holds a Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering (2009), an M.Sc. in Electronics and Information Processing (2011), and a Ph.D. in Geometrical 3D Processing (2021), all from the University of Patras, Greece.
His doctoral research focused on advanced techniques for 3D model reconstruction, compression, and feature-preserving denoising, contributing novel solutions to challenges in geometry processing and computer graphics.
Earlier in his career, Gerasimos worked as a software engineer at the Computer Technology Institute (2011–2015), where he contributed to large-scale software systems.
Since 2016, he has been a core member of the Visualization and Virtual Reality Group at the University of Patras, actively contributing to research in mixed reality, 3D data analysis, and human-machine interfaces.
He has participated in eleven European-funded R&D projects and regularly serves as a reviewer for prominent international journals and conferences in computer vision, graphics, and XR. His scholarly output includes more than 70 publications in peer-reviewed journals, international conferences, and edited volumes, making significant contributions to the fields of 3D data processing, outlier removal, and immersive visualization.
